Every person has their own way of sleeping. Some are back sleepers. Some sleep on their side. Others curl up. Each person falls asleep in their most comfortable position, but did you know that a mattress can effect this?

Think about it: If you are in the comfort of your own home, you have chosen the mattress you love, and can easily cuddle up in bed and fall asleep. But if you are on vacation and the bed isn’t so comfortable, you may have trouble finding that perfect sleeping position. This is why your mattress matters.

Now that students are back to school and families are busy, you need to get a good night’s rest! You can go to sleep early — but you need a good mattress to fall asleep comfortably!

It’s more than just soft or firm. There are many types of mattresses to choose from. So what’s the difference between mattresses? Here are some of the most popular types.

Innerspring

Innerspring mattresses are made up of a steel coil support system. It is typically the least expensive mattress type and has been around the longest. The shape and designs of the springs, plus the number of them, can vary.  The innerspring is covered by padding which can include foam, fibers and sometimes even smaller coils. The more coils the mattress has, the more points of support for the sleeper.

Pillow-Top

Pillow-Top mattresses have an added layer of stuffed upholstery sewn onto the top of the mattress. The upholstery can be made from fiber and foam materials. It gives sleepers a softer, fluffier feel, while still having the support underneath. It feels similar to laying pillows on top of your bed!

Hybrid

A hybrid mattress is becoming more and more common. It combines a steel coil support system with foam, latex or gel. This kind of mattress gives you the best of both worlds.

Memory Foam/Specialty Foam

Memory foam mattresses use a high density foam in their support systems, upholstery or both. This type of foam cradles the shape of the sleeper, allowing a snug, soft sleep. Specialty foam mattresses differ because they use one or more types of foam as the supportsystem. This foam can be manufactured in a variety of shapes and densities to offer customers a mattress that has different comfort, feel and heat dissipation features.

Gel

Gel mattresses use foam that contain gel in the support system, upholstery layers or both. It can offer different comfort, feel and heat dissipation features. This type of mattress offers extreme support and durability.

It’s hard to explain in words how each mattress feels different. When buying a mattress, it is best to do on-hands research. Come to our store and try out some beds today!
